The ERP company SAP (commonly referred to by spelling their letters out as Es-Ay-Pee) is one of the largest technology companies in the world with very complex business software used by the largest businesses and organizations in the world. They compete directly with Oracle at the high end of the market and with players such as Sage, Microsoft, Epicor, and others in the midmarket.
Founded in 1972, SAP is an acronym for Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung which translated from German to English means “Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing.”
