Need Help With Your Small Business? Try the Minority Business Assistance Centers

Starting and growing a business is difficult and everyone needs an edge, a little extra help or advice here and there to get them to the next stage in their business life. For minority-owned businesses, the Ohio network of Minority Business Assistance Centers (MBAC) is a great place to start.

Some of the services offered through MBAC include:

  • Accounting assistance
  • Business management counseling
  • Completing federal, state and local certification applications
  • Contract procurement assistance
  • Estimating/Bidding assistance
  • Identifying local resources
  • Loan packaging assistance
  • Marketing plan development
  • Referrals to financial assistance programs

The best part about MBAC is that the services are free to businesses located in Ohio. Minority businesses must be at least 51 percent or more owned by a minority. Minorities include African American, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian American.

There are currently seven MBAC regions in Ohio with 14 locations such as the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, Akron Community Service Center and Urban League, Youngstown Action Development Corporation, and Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League (to name just a few). A complete list is available on their website.
